October is a month filled with excitement and pumpkins! You may think Halloween is the star of the show, but pumpkin is the real MVP. It's the official sign that autumn has arrived, bringing with it pumpkin pies and jack-o-lanterns... all the good stuff!
In honor of National Pumpkin Day on October 26th, let's talk about these magnificent melons. Did you know that the word "pumpkin" comes from the Greek word "pepon", meaning "large melon"? It then went through a French phase as "pompon" and a British stage as "pumpion" before finally settling on "pumpkin" with the Americans. Cool, huh? And not only is it cool, but pumpkins also provide calcium, magnesium, and potassium that keep your heart healthy and blood pressure low. So, let's celebrate this day by indulging in a scrumptious pumpkin pie, latte, or soup. Happy National Pumpkin Day!
