We’re excited to share that Reach Out & Read is now available at our Longwood office!
It’s never too soon to start reading together. During well-child visits, our clinicians talk with families about the importance of reading aloud from the very beginning—even in infancy. We share simple, practical tips on how to hold books, engage your child with pictures and stories, and make reading part of your daily routine.
As part of the program, each child will receive a new, age-appropriate book to take home after their well-check appointment. These books are meant to be more than just a takeaway—they’re a starting point for connection, learning, and healthy development.
Even for families who may not read traditionally, books can still spark meaningful interaction. Talking through pictures, describing what you see, and engaging your child in conversation all help build early literacy, language, and cognitive skills.
By making books part of pediatric care, we’re helping families build home libraries over time while reinforcing that parents and caregivers are a child’s first and most important teachers. Reading together doesn’t just support early childhood development—it creates lasting moments of connection that children carry with them for years to come.
We’re proud to bring this program to our Longwood families and continue finding ways to support the whole child—inside and outside the exam room.
Visiting us for an upcoming well-check? We look forward to seeing you in our Longwood office and helping your child start building their own library, one book at a time.
