Q&A with Marilyn

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

Finding Nemo

What is your favorite children's book and why?

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Not only is it a delightful story that captivates children's imaginations with its colorful illustrations, but it also teaches important lessons about growth, transformation, and perseverance.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

My favorite toy as a child was my stuffed doll. She was more than just a toy- she was a constant companion, providing comfort and security during my early years.

Who is your greatest inspiration and why?

My greatest inspiration comes from my two children. Watching them grow, learn, and navigate the world with curiosity and resilience has profoundly shaped the way i view life and my role as a caregiver. Their ability to find joy in small moments and their boundless capacity for love and empathy continually remind me of the importance of nurturing these qualities in others. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, they inspire me to approach my patients with the same care, patience, and dedication that I strive to give my own children. Their daily growth reminds me of the incredible potential every child holds, and they push me to be the best version of myself, both at home and in my career.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

In my free time, I am passionate about personal wellness, staying active and enjoy spending family time outdoors.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

My inspiration to become a Family Nurse practitioner stems from my deep-rooted passion for helping children lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Throughout my nursing education, I found myself drawn to pediatrics because of the unique challenges and rewards of working with children. The opportunity to provide preventative care, educate families, and watch children grow and develop in a healthy way is incredibly fulfilling. I believe that being a Family Nurse Practitioner allows me to blend my clinical skills with my passion for advocacy and child development, making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and their families.
