Q&A with Heather
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
My favorite animated movies are The Little Mermaid or Moana. These movies are stories that bring joy and wonder. The main characters show curiosity, determination, and bravery.
What is your favorite children's book and why?
My favorite children's book is Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. It is my favorite because it was my son's favorite book when he was younger, then it quickly became a favorite for all of my children. It is a fun book, easy to read book, that teaches math skills. Kids love it without realizing they are learning.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite childhood toy was my Barbie Doll. Barbie dolls encourage role play and imaginative play, supporting both creativity and language development. I continue to use these skills today.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My son because he has already faced challenges in his life that he has to work hard to overcome.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We enjoy trips to Disney World together. It gives us a chance to reconnect as a family and create special memories together. I also enjoy going to the beach and swimming. I find the beach a great place to unwind and relax.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I enjoy working with children. I am passionate about early childhood development and interventions. Working in pediatrics allows me to build long lasting relationships with patients and their families, helping them through different phases of life.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I use my own personal life experiences to connect with my patients and their families. I am a mother of three, including one of whom has special needs. This experience has only strengthened my passion for understanding child development. This helps me share my knowledge and provide support to my patients and their families.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
I aim to use a calm and welcoming approach with my patients and their families. I try to provide a safe place to discuss concerns and address their needs.
