Your visit
Well visits
Hereās what to expect at a well visit appointmentāand why they matter
What is a well visit?
Regular well visits are crucial, even when your child isn't sick, allowing us to address concerns, monitor growth, and build a complete medical history. At a well visit our pediatric clinicians conduct thorough physicals, assess developmental milestones, administer vaccines, and track growth, all to ensure your child's healthy development. The clinician will also compare your childās weight and height with other children in the same age group to see if their growth is on track.
Itās all about early detection and prevention
Every child goes through stages of rapid physical development. So the sooner we can detect potential health problems, the better chance we have of treating them successfully. Well visits are a key tool used to detect and prevent disease and protect your childās overall health.
This face-to-face time with a pediatric clinician also gives you and your child a valuable opportunity to ask questions, discuss any concerns, and get age-appropriate advice to help guide you through the next anticipated milestones and beyond.
When should your child have a āØwell visit?
Your child grows quickly in the first two years of life, so you will have more well visits during this time. The first visit is usually scheduled within a few days of birth and then repeats regularly, transitioning to annual visits as your child ages. You should never skip a well visit, even if your child seems healthy.
