Q&A with Dr. Hamilton

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

Scooby-Doo & School House Rock; I grew up around dogs my entire life. I have 2 dogs now (Mydnite and Sophie). Saturday mornings with School House rock made my day. This is the main reason why I remember the Preamble to the Constitution. LOL.

What is your favorite children's book and why?

My mother said I read every book I touched. I did not have just one favorite book.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

Board Games like Connect 4, Monopoly, Perfection, and Operation were my favorite games as I loved to compete with my little sister. Playing with my Rubik's Cube was fun as I have always loved puzzles and challenging myself to beat my own time solving it.

Who is your greatest inspiration and why?

My Family is my inspiration. My parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, as well as other extended family, have always been very supportive of my goals in life.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I love listening to music. Collecting vinyl records. Watching sports (Football/ Basketball/Tennis) and visiting my family in Tennessee.

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

My own pediatrician Dr. Fred Seman. He was awesome and I was never afraid to go to the doctor. He was always so reassuring and caring during all of my visits as a child. He remained my pediatrician till the day I graduated from college. The continuity of care that I received during my time with Dr. Seman was inspirational and shaped my view of medicine.

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

First and foremost, I love children. I love their innocence.
I love their honesty and frankness. A pediatrician must be thick skinned to work with kids because they have no qualms about telling you the truth. The ability to gain their trust is the greatest challenge but it is also the greatest reward. Patience is a must. If you establish trust with your young patients, it is not easily broken, and a bond is made forever. Parents will appreciate the care you provide also.

How do you accommodate patients with special needs?

Wheelchair accommodations to building and individual patient rooms
Visual/Audio Aids available
