Q&A with Jessica

What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?

Sophia the First, The Lion King, Despicable me, Inside Out, and Beauty and the Beast.

What is your favorite children's book and why?

Boom Chicka Boom because it is a fun way to work on the alphabet and has always been my kids favorite.

What was your favorite childhood toy?

My teddy bear I named Mrs. Bear.

Who is your greatest inspiration and why?

My parents because they taught me to work hard and be kind to everyone. They taught me the most important thing in life is Jesus' love, grace, and mercy. They always gave their all when fighting trials like cancer and a stroke. They supported me and my siblings so well. I never had to doubt their love and encouragement. I hope my kids continue to enjoy me as much as I got and get to enjoy mine.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

If I'm not working you will find me with my family, church, or friends. We love Disney and Universal Studios! I love a good day of errands and shopping!

What inspired you to work in pediatrics?

I love working with kids because every day at work is fun! You never know what a child is going to say! I love establishing relationships at birth and getting to watch them grow into awesome teens! I tell everyone there is no better field in healthcare than pediatrics!

What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?

I joke that I work well in pediatrics because I am the size of the average 12-year-old so they feel comfortable with me!

How do you accommodate patients with special needs?

I will meet them where they are at. If the exam needs to occur under the counter, I will meet you under there!
A diagnosis does not define a child's worth. A special needs child is just an exceptionally unique child with their own strengths, challenges, and potential!
