About proxy accounts
The level of access a proxy user has can vary. For example, parents may have full access to a child's health record up to a certain age, while access to a teen's record may be limited or require consent from the patient.
In adherence with the Cures Act, parents or legal guardians can receive credentials that allow them to access multiple childrenβs information using a single login. (Based on state regulation, patients who are 13 years or older may be required to use their own credentials.)
Logging in to either account follows the same process via the same portal link. However, the access level will vary depending on the account type, which is automatically assigned based on the patientβs age.
Yes, parents and legal guardians can have individual proxy accounts. However, these additional accounts must be set up by the practice. (Note: Multiple children can only be linked to a single account if the guarantor is the same for both.)
HIPAA compliant
All healowβ’ patient portals are designed to be HIPAA compliant. Our portal utilizes security measures like SSL encryption and requires user authentication to protect patient health information. If you need additional information, please refer to the healowβ’ Privacy Policy.
