Q&A with Nicole
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
The Despicable Me movies
What is your favorite children's book and why?
Good night moon
What was your favorite childhood toy?
A large Barbie doll house that I could nearly fit in.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My grandfather, Dr. Robert Hoff, who was a family practice physician. He was a "birth to death" physician who started the first birth center in our area and took care of individuals throughout their lifespan. He encouraged me to go the nurse practitioner route to have a good balance of work life and family time.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Traveling, swimming, and running.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I have always loved working with kids. From a young age I was helping in a child care center at my family's gym and enjoyed babysitting throughout high school. When I decided I wanted to pursue my nurse practitioner degree I enjoyed my pediatric clinicals the most and received encouraging feedback from my professors who came to observe me.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I enjoy getting to know my patients and their entire family. The joy of practicing in a small town is seeing my patients and their families at the ball fields and stores and getting hugs and high fives like we are best friends. I like to incorporate holistic care into my practice as applicable.
