Our Executive Team

Peter J. Shulman

Peter J. Shulman, M.D., FAAP, M.B.A.

Chief Executive Officer

A graduate of the Chicago Medical School, Peter J. Shulman M.D., completed his Pediatric Internship and Residency at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center in New York. Joining Pediatric Associates in 1975, he was given the responsibility of developing the group’s first satellite location in Plantation, Florida. The success he achieved in Plantation served as the group’s model for expansion throughout the South Florida market. Today, the group operates over thirty locations extending from Homestead to Jacksonville.

Dr. Shulman served as the Chief of the Pediatric Department at Plantation General Hospital from 1984 through 1989. His leadership and communication skills were recognized early on and he earned an appointment to Pediatric Associates’ Executive Committee; the group’s first governing body. In 1998, Dr. Shulman completed an MBA degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Miami. That same year, he was named the Chief Medical Officer for Pediatric Associates, a role in which he served until 2010, when he was elected by the Board to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Pediatric Associates has continued to thrive and today is recognized as one of the premier pediatric practices in the United States.

Dr. Shulman’s many years as a practicing pediatrician, his management style, and his vision for Pediatric Associates, makes him ideally suited to navigate the organization through the complex changes of today’s healthcare environment.

C. Rocky Slonaker

C. Rocky Slonaker, MD, CHCO, FAAP

Chief Medical Officer

In 2001, Dr. Slonaker joined Pediatric Associates as a general pediatrician in their Plantation, FL office. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to administer the clinical trials programs and became a Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer for the group. In addition to these administrative duties, Dr. Slonaker had an integral role in designing and implementing the CarePlus – Medicaid ER Diversion program.

As Florida Medicaid Reform moved into Broward County in 2006, Pediatric Associates launched Pediatric Associates PSN, a pediatric-only provider service network. Dr. Slonaker served as the Medical Director and Compliance Officer for the health plan until it was merged into a larger area health plan in 2009.

In September 2009, Dr. Slonaker was appointed to the Florida Governor’s Medical Home Task Force, which worked towards analyzing the format and function of existing state-based medical home programs and provided recommendations to the Florida Legislature regarding the creation of a medical home in Florida.

Dr. Slonaker has been the Chief Medical Officer and Compliance Officer at Pediatric Associates since 2010. He continues his work towards clinical excellence in pediatrics, quality care for the underinsured, and the realization of an accredited medical home both within his own practice and at the state level.

Scott D. Farr

Scott D. Farr, MBA, MHA, CMPE

Chief Operating Officer

Scott Farr joined Pediatric Associates in 2015 as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Farr came to Pediatric Associates (PA) with over twenty years of diverse leadership, operations, strategy and development experience with physician organizations, children’s hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, healthcare start-ups and payer organizations.

Prior to joining Pediatric Associates, Scott was the Vice President of Strategic Development, Continuum of Care and Physician Services at El Camino Hospital (ECH) in Silicon Valley, CA where he was instrumental in developing and implementing value-based care models and population health management. While at ECH, he also managed Ambulatory Surgical Services, Cancer Care, Heart and Vascular Care, Behavioral Health and Primary Care Services as part of its 1,800 physician medical staff. Additionally, he was recognized for launching the first “patient-centered” medical home in Northern California focused on improving care and outcomes to patients 65 and older.

Prior to his time in CA, Mr. Farr was the CEO of MedicaVentures, a healthcare strategy and management consulting group, CEO at Dell Children’s Hospital – ‘Specially for Children, VP – Operations & Development Officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and CEO of University Medical Group. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and double masters’ degrees from the University of Houston. He also received a Certificate in Leadership Excellence from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management.

Mr. Farr continues his career leading Pediatric Associates’ strategic growth – geographic and specialty expansion along with developing and managing PA’s population health initiatives. Under Farr’s leadership, Pediatric Associates has grown to be recognized as the national leader in pediatric population management. With his breadth of experience and expertise, Mr. Farr helps guide both short and long-term strategy to position Pediatric Associates for continued success.

Aren Laljie

Aren Laljie, FHFMA, CPA, MBA

Chief Financial Officer

Aren Laljie, FHFMA, CPA, MBA joined Pediatric Associates as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in February of 2017. As CFO, Mr. Laljie oversees all aspects of financial operations, including financial reporting and budgeting, and participates in the development of Pediatric Associates’ strategic goals.

Mr. Laljie has more than 25 years of financial healthcare experience in hospitals, long-term and short-term acute care facilities and physician practices. Prior to his time with Pediatric Associates, Mr. Laljie served as the CFO of ColumbiaDoctors, the physician practice for Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital. While at Columbia Doctors, Mr. Laljie managed the financial and operations management of the organization including managed care, accounts receivable, information systems and facilities operations.

Prior to his role with ColumbiaDoctors, Mr. Laljie was the Vice President of Finance for Holy Cross Hospital, Chief Financial Officer for Columbia University’s Medical Center, and Regional Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Kindred Hospitals. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his MBA from Bernard M. Baruch College of CUNY. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Florida and is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).
