Q&A with Erica
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
The Lion King & Sing
What is your favorite children's book and why?
Children’s books are pure magic —I can’t get enough of them! I love diving into favorites like Llama Llama, The Gruffalo, and Can I Give You a Squish? with my two sons. Storytime is our special adventure together.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite childhood toy was a cuddly stuffed puppy named Rocky—named after a ski trip to the Rocky Mountains when I was five (yes, I thought I was very clever). Rocky wasn’t just a toy—he was my sidekick, co-pilot, and partner-in-adventure! I loved him the way Andy loves his toys in Toy Story—with all the imagination and heart a kid can muster. From wild pretend missions to cozy bedtime snuggles, Rocky was always right there by my side.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My parents have always been my greatest inspirations. Their moral compass is rock-solid—always pointing true, no matter what. They lead with selflessness and strength, showing me every day what it means to live with integrity and heart. Through their actions, they’ve taught me how to grow, give, and strive to be the best version of myself.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending quality time with my children, particularly outdoors. My family and I love traveling and exploring new cultures to broaden our horizons. I have visited over thirty countries, including destinations in Asia, Australia, South America, and Europe. I am also an avid Disney Park enthusiast.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
My inspiration to pursue a career in medicine began in fourth grade, when a serious illness kept me in the hospital for over a month. That challenging experience left a lasting impression—it opened my eyes to the compassion and dedication of healthcare providers, and sparked a deep desire to one day care for others the way I had been cared for. As I grew older, I realized that my natural strengths—careful observation and attentive listening—aligned perfectly with the role of a nurse practitioner, especially in the pediatric setting, where empathy and connection are key.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I’m a strong listener and know how to hold space for my patients. I strive to meet them wherever they are on their health journey, with empathy and understanding. I’m also a dedicated advocate—someone who speaks up for my patients and ensures their needs are heard. One of my key strengths is being able to see the bigger picture while picking up on the small details. I’m highly observant and quick to notice subtle changes, which helps me provide thoughtful, well-rounded care.
