At all of our locations, we offer access to high-quality behavioral health services through referrals to trusted providers. But in our Orange County, Florida offices, we take it a step further with Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH)—a model where behavioral health is built directly into your child’s primary care team. This means support is faster, more connected, and more convenient—right where your child already receives their medical care.

Unlike traditional referrals that require families to seek care outside the office, our integrated program brings licensed behavioral health clinicians into the pediatric setting, allowing us to address emotional and behavioral concerns in real time. It’s a proactive, team-based approach that puts your child’s whole health at the center.
At our practice, your child’s health means caring for both their body and mind. That’s why we’ve integrated Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) directly into our primary care team. Instead of waiting months for an outside referral, your child can receive timely support right here—where they already feel comfortable.

In-House Support: Our BHCs are part of the same care team you already know and trust. They provide brief, evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate concerns like anxiety, stress, mood changes, sleep issues, ADHD follow-up, and more.
Seamless Coordination: If your child needs more specialized care, our team will coordinate a step-up referral to community subspecialists, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
Convenient Access: We offer both in-person visits in our offices and virtual visits for busy families, because care should fit into your life, not the other way around.
Early Access: Behavioral health services are available right in the pediatric office—no long waits, no separate locations.
Proactive Screenings: We offer timely screenings for emotional, social, and behavioral health during routine visits.
Coordinated Support: If your child needs additional care, we connect you with trusted community specialists—while staying involved to ensure a smooth, collaborative care experience.
Flexible Scheduling: Choose what works best for your family: in-person visits at the office or convenient virtual appointments (at select locations, call for more information).
Pediatric care provider (PCP): PCPs are dedicated to supporting your child’s overall health. They’ll help you connect with members of the care team who specialize in mental and emotional health.
Behavioral health consultant (BHC): Your child’s PCP may refer them to a BHC for a 15-30 minute visit. The BHC will focus on a particular behavioral/mental health problem and help you create a plan to get your child healthier.
Medical assistant: A medical assistant is the first person you talk to when you have a health concern. They’ll work with the PCP and BHC to help get your child the right care.

Fees and eligibility
Pediatric Associates Behavioral Health consultations are available at no cost for Orange County pediatric residents. Here’s how to get care:
Provide proof of residency for pediatric residents of Orange County Florida.
Schedule a visit with a medical provider in one of the participating pediatric practices listed above.
Meet and receive treatment from a behavioral health consultant as prescribed by your primary care provider (in person or telehealth). We will bill your insurance only for the pediatric medical service. The behavioral health consultant is funded by our Orange County government for all Orange County pediatric residents. Financial assistance for the medical services is available, upon qualification.

Your child’s pediatric care home is where they can see their pediatric care provider, who can help them be healthy. This is where they go for yearly check-ups or when they feel sick or sad.
Yes, the BHC is a licensed mental health provider. They offer a new modality of services called behavioral health consultation—this means that they work hand in hand with your child’s medical provider to create a care plan for your child’s mental/behavioral health needs based on the medical provider’s evaluation. Because the BHC is part of the clinical team, this helps with improving communication between providers regarding your child’s mental/behavioral health needs.
We do not expect there to be a waiting list. The BHC has the capacity to see 4 new patients every day and 6 follow up visits every day.
BHCs specialize in the following diagnostics: anxiety, depression, trauma, and conduct (including ADHD) disorders. However, the BHC can also create care plans for other behavioral/mental health disorders.
Our pediatric medical providers specialize in medication management for certain mental health conditions, although not all. In cases where alternative expertise is required, we will assist you in connecting with medication management services offered by other community providers.
There is no set timeline, although it’s common to see the BHC for a few months, with weekly visits. A BHC will provide services to your child as many times as the pediatric care provider considers that the BHC service is needed.
The BHC provides treatment to children and teens, as well as support to parents through parenting psychoeducation.
Our BHCs are certified in a pediatric modality of services called MATCH-ADTC. This is an evidence-based service modality that is specifically tailored to the pediatric population. Learn more about MATCH-ADTC.
