Q&A with Brittany
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Fern Gully is one of my favorite nostalgic animations because I love fairies as well as nature and gardens- I love the message that it teaches children about loving and caring for your land.
What is your favorite children's book and why?
I love the Little Critter series of books because the illustrations are adorable, as well as the messages are brought down to a child's level, giving belonging and understanding to the reader.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I loved collecting Beanie Babies as a child because they each had a name and a story.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
All the women in my life. I have a self-made successful momma who started my inspiration. I have aunties and girlfriends of all ages who have taught me and loved me well. I am connected with many faith-based women who have lead me in my relationship with Jesus; as well as I get the honor of being a mommy to a "Little Woman". If it was not for all the women in my life I would not have had the strength and bravery I have now to continually shine bright and help all those around me.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love to Garden! I have a very large butterfly garden at home- I love butterflies, flowers and all things nature. In 2025, I became a Master Gardener with the UF/IFAS extension office in Seminole County. My family and I love to attend Orlando Magic Games and day trips to Disney World, as well as keep involved in our Church. I have a giant goldendoodle named Atticus who keeps us laughing. We are a blended family, as I not only have my little girl, but 2 Bonus teens- which allows me to connect with the many different types of families we encounter as Pediatric Clinicians.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I feel empowered to help kiddos feel safe and heard in the medical field. I feel its very important to guide children in learning about their bodies, minds and health in order to set them up for a lifetime of success. I aspire to help each child and family to feel like their life matters.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I am a petite, bubbly gal, therefore, I find this helps me to build a initial rapport with children. Once, I get down to their level and begin to talk about something they like, this helps to open the door to a trusting relationship- If you can provide a comforting atmosphere that makes a child feel like they belong this really helps them build a trusting relationship with healthcare and less fearful of the unknown. I strive to make Doctor's visit fun and not such a chore for families. I have an extensive background in newborn and infant care, as I have been in the OB/NICU field since 2014. I enjoy helping momma's learn about feeding their babies well and supporting them through the ever evolving stages of motherhood.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
As a provider I try to give extra time and education for families who have a special needs child. Its important to give that extra time and attention to these children to allow the clinician to not only get to know the child, but also understand how to care for the child best.
