Q&A with Kristin
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
One of my favorite animated movies is Encanto. I love the music in this movie as well as the characters.
What is your favorite children's book and why?
One of my favorite children's books is "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. It is a sweet book about a mother singing this to her son as he grows up. Eventually, his mother becomes too old and frail to sing it, so the son cradles his mom and sings it to her, and then to his newborn baby.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I would say my favorite childhood toys were my Cabbage Patch dolls. I had 4, including a set of twin dolls. I liked taking them with me to the grocery store, changing their outfits and pushing them in a stroller.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
I inspire to be the best person I can be...by leading by example for my daughters or treating others the way I would want to be treated.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters. I love any and all theme parks and I love staying at local resorts and having a staycation. I also enjoy staying active, whether going on a walk or bike ride or just hanging out at the pool.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I have always loved children and grew up babysitting from a young age. I love working in pediatrics and seeing the kids grow up over the years. I am passionate about early childhood development and understand the importance of recognizing developmental delays early on.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I have been a pediatric nurse practitioner here at this location for 18 years. I am good at explaining medical information in a simple direct way that is easy to understand. Although I do not look like her, I have had many patients tell me I sound like Ms Rachel when I sing to their little ones. I find most babies calm down and are not as anxious when I sing while examining them.
