Q&A with Sarah
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
The Lion King
What is your favorite children's book and why?
The Giving Tree
What was your favorite childhood toy?
American Girl Dolls
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My parents. They always chose love first and taught me what true compassion looks like.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Spending time with my husband, traveling to national parks, and pottery.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I was diagnosed at age 4 years old with Type 1 Diabetes. This gave me exposure to the medical field very early on. To this day, I still remember all my physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses who treated me along the way.
It gave me a passion for pediatric medicine. I never want any child to loose their childhood due to chronic illness or being sick.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I always listen to the parent first. My desire is to work alongside you to help your child be their healthiest.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
Ensuring that they are comfortable with being examined. Or examining them in a different way. Describing what I am doing so that the child is aware at all times.
