Setting the foundation for your baby’s care

Congratulations! Whether this is your first child or an addition to your growing family, every parent wants to ensure their new baby gets the care they need. Newborn visits are an important part of that care.

Your newborn visit at Pediatric Associates should take place 24-48 hours after being discharged from the hospital or birthing center. We offer a dedicated newborn phone line to help make scheduling your appointment easier. Remember to contact your insurance company and have your baby added to your health plan.

We’re ready to welcome your baby

Our team is waiting to register your new baby and schedule a newborn visit at your nearest Pediatric Associates office. When parents call the newborn line, they'll be promptly connected to a dedicated phone agent ready to assist them. Babys first appointment is scheduled 24-48 hours after leaving the hospital.

During your newborn visit, a clinician will perform a complete physical examination of your baby, check their developmental milestones, and assess their weight, feeding, sleeping, and voiding (stooling) habits. If you have questions or need advice, it’s an ideal time to ask.

The clinician will also check your hospital or birthing center discharge papers to make sure all necessary screenings and vaccines are complete (including a hearing test, newborn screening/PKU, and hepatitis B vaccine) and discuss upcoming appointments and vaccines with you.

Convenient care that keeps your baby safe

Convenient care that keeps your baby safe

All newborn visits at Pediatric Associates are scheduled first thing in the morning or first thing in the afternoon to minimize exposure to other children. Your baby will go directly to an exam room upon arrival or wait in a designated well visit area if no exam room is available. Please remember to bring your hospital or birthing center discharge papers, driver’s license, and insurance card with you.

Before you leave the office, our staff will schedule your baby’s next set of appointments to ensure milestones are met and avoid any vaccine delays – establishing a healthy connection from the start.
